Specialized Therapy:
Position Release Technique

First have your patient follow the Basic Fenix Treatment instructions, as found in this website and described in the Patient Guidebook.

When they get to step 6, instead of applying straight sustained pressure to the TP, they will need to vary the treatment as follows:

Your patient should apply mild pressure to the tender point of the involved muscle.
Next have the patient slowly bring origin and insertion of the muscle closer, shortening the involved tissue, until a position of ease is found that lessens the discomfort by 3/4th or 75%. You will need to show them how you want this done.
The patient should then hold this position of ease for 1 to 1½ minutes, and then slowly return the tissue to normal length.
Your patient should return to the tender point to test it with the Fenix therapeutic digit. There should be a subsequent significant reduction in pain and a release of hypertonicity of the tissue.
This technique is ideal for individuals or tissues which are too hypersensitive to be treated with ischemic compression or even variable compression.

For greater detail refer to the clinician's CD Rom or a seminar in you area on the Fenix Rehab System.
