Myofascial Release Therapy

First have your patient follow the Basic Fenix Treatment instructions, as described in the Patient Guidebook.

When they get to step 6, instead of applying straight sustained pressure to the TP, they will need to vary the treatment as follows:

With the TP under therapeutic compression they should slowly stretch the tissue housing the myofascial TP. If applied directly to the skin, the digit should be lubricated.
For example, if they are treating the TPs of the left infraspinatus or rhomboid muscle (as in the picture below), they should take their right hand and grasp their left elbow. The patient then slowly pulls their left elbow across their chest, stretching the shoulder muscles being treated.
Many areas of the body can be treated in this manner with specific stretching to the muscles being treated while therapeutic compression is applied with the Fenix.
Please refer to the clinician CD Rom or a Seminar for further detailed instructions.

Another form of myofascial release technique is accomplished by the patient slowly introducing minor motion into the tissue being treated with therapeutic compression, by moving the neck, trunk, arm or leg slowly back and forth. In many muscles this motion will cause the therapeutic digit to stroke through the barrier of the myofascial adhesion.
