Specialized Therapy:
Variable Compression

First have your patient follow the Basic Fenix Treatment instructions, as found in this website and described in the Patient Guidebook.

When they get to step 6 in the Guidebook, instead of applying sustained pressure to the myofascial TP, they will need to vary the treatment as follows:

Your patient should apply deep pressure sufficient to produce referral symptoms.
They will continue at that level of pressure for 6 seconds then release the pressure for 3 seconds by slightly rolling or easing off the TP.
Next, they will roll or ease back onto the TP with slightly stronger pressure for a count of 6 seconds.
Again, they will then slightly roll or ease off the TP for 3 seconds.
This alternating pattern is repeated until the local and/or referral pain diminishes, or until 2 minutes have elapsed
For your patient to properly deactivate the TP it is vital for them to stretch the involved tissue that houses it. They are instructed to check with you as well as referencing the stretching section of this guide for specific stretching instructions.

The patient then completes the treatment of the TP by following the instruction on page 5, steps 9 through 12. This is a good technique for tissues that are too sensitive to treat with sustained ischemic compression.
